This will help prevent this from happening since it will give you control of your email addresses. If you accidentially delete a mailbox you can quickly recreate that mailbox.

In addition, you look much more professional to have joe@joescupcakefactory.com that joescupcakefactory@hotmail.com or whichever domain.

On top of it all, Microsoft has the office live site which offers free hosting along with email; and Google has thier own under business solutions.

Hell is losing your e-mail address

Typical Verizon arrogance. There is absolutely no reason they could not have restored the address except for the fact it requires them to do something. Their policy is designed to minimize their efforts, customer be dammed. Register a domain and get someone to host your mail. If you want email for fun, use a free one like, hotmail, gmail or yahoo mail. This eliminates the hassle of creating new email addresses when/if you switch internet providers.

I used to do tech support for many different ISPs and the deleted email address call was the one of the calls I dreaded the most. Contrary to what people believe, unfortunately there is not some button we can click to fix the issue. Trust me, I'd rather click a button and fix the issue than have someone scream at me for 15 minutes.

Hell is losing your e-mail address

Very nice blog.

Hell is losing your e-mail address

A PERFECT EXAMPLE: I live in NH and Verizon moved out of this state for some reason after hooking up my house to recieve thier new (coming soon) cable tv system. Now,Fairpoint OR Fairview (who-ever)bought them out and we are suppose to be STUCK with thier NEW address ex:joe@myfairpoint.net!!!!! this is rediculous!!!
